Bank One Corp. was recently sued by eBay's PayPal unit regarding a financial transaction patent. The patent infringement claim seeks unspecified damages, and contends that Bank One has improperly used PayPal's online bill-payment system, which was patented in 1998.

Lawyers get richer and everyone else's insurance rates go up!! As well as prices and etc.

Sad, but true. It's easier and cheaper to hire a team of lawyers than to innovate and make good products.
 
I rather suspect PayPal is going to settle this out of court, as there are/were several states investigating PayPal's financial practices as well several civil actions investigating the way complaints are(or aren't) handled depending on the victim. BankOne only need bring some of these issues to bear to really make things interesting. 😉
