I so need 1 of those too! :D (anandtech article)

oh wow! :D#

The results of the additional metal layer (and its subsequent electrical path optimizations) and the new decoupling capacitors are immediately evident; the Thoroughbred is now easily able to run at 2.33 - 2.40GHz with relatively little effort.

Imagine the WU times with 1 of those with a 166+FSB! :Q

MoFunk, reading through the entire article, they did say that they weren't able to hold the 2,666 MHz speed(overclocked) for very long..

Still, given a little more time, I'm sure a solution will present itself. :)

I think they were not able to hold that speed because of the 666 :Q Maybe if they backed off the FSB one it would hold! LOL

Thank you to the people of Fab30. But if what Tom's say is true, this will delay the Barton, which is not so good. The extra cache on Barton would have really helped SETI as well. But maybe now they'll have time to make these kind of improvements to Barton.

I used to have a Compaq Quad P166 server at home that I'd named "The Beast" :Q

This has nothing to do with the release date of Barton. AMD postponed Barton until the first of the year awhile back because they wanted to focus on Hammer. Or at least that is what my rep tells me :)

Wow, a >2 GHz AMD chip.

MEEE WAAAANNNNNTTTYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how well, if at all, they'd work in a dualie rig.

My thought EXACTLY!!!!!

lane42- Only a guess but I have a 1.6 pushing a WU at an average of 3.5 hours. I would assume that you could cut at least an hour off that time (someone please correct me if I am wrong, this is a pure guess coming outta my rear!) so probably 2.5. 9 per day, 18 if you got a dually on this. But if this comes unlocked or if you can unlock it yourself, you could bust that FSB up even higher and maybe squeeze it to 2.25 hours. WOW I know what I will be dreaming of for a while!
