I had a power cut last night. Now the fan on my power supply doesn't seem to be working.
If I turn the PC on, the CPU fan starts, there is a funny high pitched noise, then it turns off and the PC won't even POST.
The LED on the motherboard stays on though, so I HOPE a replacement PSU will sort things out.
It's my fastest machine too. <sigh>
🙁 :disgust:

🙁 - Bummer! I guess it is that time of the year. I've lost a bunch of WUs recently due to power issues, but luckily no system problems.

Lightning has been giving us fits here on the Gulf of Mexico. 🙁

My daughter's home was struck about two-weeks ago.

3 Computers
2 TVs
2 Tivos
1 Garage Door Opener
1 Ethernet Modem
1 Router
1 Burglar Alarm System
3 Phones
Plus other stuff

Still digging our way out of this hole.

I had it plugged into a 5 way surge protector extension too!
And it's the only damn thing not working :|
Have to wait until Saturday now for the PSU.

What surge protector?

The one plugged into the electrical socket that's lying on the floor 😀
Edit:
The socket's not lying on the floor, the extension is 😱

That high pitched sound you heard was the over current protection cycling.... I think you had an insulation breakdown in the PSU transformer...

Just stuck in an Enermax EG365AX-VE(G)(FMA)350 W ATX power supply and my main rig is up and running again 😀
One thing bothering me, CPU temp is around 45 C but the motherboard temp is pretty constant at 46 C.
I never noticed it to be this high before.
Is this OK ?

🙂

CPU Temp can be double of the 45 C and you would be OK, that is the max temp.
