1 Nothing but the power supply, CPU,installed on the motherboard, plug your power cord in and turn power on.
2 You should hear a series of long beeps & all your fans should be turning.
3 The board is looking for memory.
4 That tells you your 'board, CPU & power supply are working.
5 Unplug power cord (very important an ATX power supply always has power to it when the cord is pluged in).
6 Install 1 stick of RAM in the first bank, it should be marked either 0 or 1
7 Plug your power cord in and turn your power on.
8 You should get 1 long and 3 short beeps. It will be looking for the video card.
9 That tells you your PS/'board/CPU/RAM are working.
10 Unplug power cord.
11 Install your video card and plug your monitor into your video card.
12 Plug your power cord in turn your power on.
13 You should get a power up test which is 1 short beep.
14 You should see your CPU/RAM/video reconized on the screen.
15 You will get a disk boot failure because you have no drives installed. In this case every thing you have installed is working.
16 Shut machine down and unplug power cord.
17 Install all your drives, set your BIOS up and install your operating system.

Hope this might help trouble shoot the problem.

Edit:
Just thought of it too, try the motherboard out of the case on a motherboard box or something, to make sure it isn't shorting itself to the case.

these are the results

1. works-series of long wailing beeps heard
2. I hear the long
3. ok.
4. working- so this means my cpu motherboard and ps are good right
5. unplugged- as requested
6. after completing the steps for 6 Iget: with 1 stick no beeps-tried dimm slots: 0-1-2 nada---no beeps with second stick of ram in dimms: 0-1-2

it's the ram then right? or does that mean video?

I appreciate your time

mike

I had a very similar problem with a system i built not long ago, it turned out to be the brand of ram i was using, was incompatible with the board 🙁
See if you can test it with another stick of ram, maybe a different brand 🙂

cpu 1.2 athlon and 750 duron
2 separate sticks of ram 128 mb each
mother boards are: mv7kb - k7s5a - Iwill k266 plus - r
power supplies (3) deer 300 watt-deer 350 watt- turbolink 350
video cards gfmx200 64 mb gfmx400 32 mb ti4400 64mb pny
2 new cases 1 used
no cracks or chips on processors

I have been trying to get these running
the duron posted on the k7s5a but when
i took it off on board video and added the agp card it lost video signal
since that time i ordered the iwill from zodder but its the same problem

this is to replace the willie system that is acting similar
I have removed the components and tried every combination
but no video
it powers up but no video hdd spins up beeps like video is engaging
cpu fans spin up cd rom lights up and nothing

weird that every combo does this

When I put the cpu heatsink motherboard and power supply I get the long steady beeping for no ram
when I put either stick of ram in any slot no beeps if I put the agp card in no video
that tells me that its either the ram or the video and not the motherboard as I had thought

but this project is getting frustrating/pricey as I started this to add 1 small system for my son 4 to keep him on his computer.I bought the duron and mobo for 50 bucks had a stick of sdram in a friends computer( it was working)

after i tried ordering another mobo + cpu+ ram to avoid issues lol
same results-no video-no post

never have I had this kind of a problem before

but on the bright side if I can get these running there will be an increase in daily production
and I'll have an extra mobo that will support a 2400+ according to the paperwork

sorry about dropping this thread but my wife and children left for California about 25 -35 minutes ago
and getting everything ready has been a nightmare.

sorry its so long winded but thank you for any assistance you can provide

mike

Edit
it has been a long day so I am headed to bed early

will check back in the morning

I can get more ram but ist going to cost me 40 bucks for 256mb minium
and i can't really afford that at the moment.just want to be sure before i order
anymore parts.good night all

mike

cleared cmos on the k7s5a and the iwill no change everything powers up no video

I may try going to a shop tommorrow and having them test the ram
I have tried a pci video card as well-still no video
both ram modules are different brands
one is powmem 128mb single sided
the other is spectek 128 mb cl3.0 single sided

???

A dumb question.
Have you gone to The Mobo makers sites and downloaded the users guides?
There should be a trouble shooter in the back of the manuels. They may offer answers to your problems. Also check the FAQs at the mobo sites. Sound to me, that your just missing one step or setting in the bios. Maybe your APG voltage setting is wrong or IRQ assignment isn't right. Its got to be setting or something...if it works in one mode but not the next.

Added: I looked at the set up guide for the kk266 plus r. Check the jumper for the ram speed setting. Is it set for pc 100 or pc133? There are some other settings that you may want to check.

thats what i'm hoping
manuals and faq's-got em all downloaded and have been going over and over them

the thing is it's not working either way now
If I can rule out the ram then i'll be one step closer, maybe i'll even take trhe video cards in and get them tested

night all and thanks to each and everyone for the help
I really appreciate it.
