OT: Newegg RMA Process

Ok I bought a ABIT NF7-S refurbed from Newegg. It locks at memory check on boot with more than one stick of memory installed. I have had it a week. So my question is: How easy is it to RMA a refurb with Newegg? Also what are the odds that they will replace my rev. 1.0 with a 1.2 or 2.0? Or would it be better to RMA it through ABIT? Thanks for any input.

IMHO, this is "the" best resource!

RMAs are no problem. You may have to follow up with a phone call to avoid the restocking fee. They started the "restocking fee" because too many people were just taking advantage of them by swapping parts that didn't overclock as well as they wanted.

I can't see them charging you a restocking fee for an item that has failed under warranty, especially since a faulty item should not be restocked! You may want to check their RMA policy on refurbs, however.

the restocking fee only applies if you return the part and don't get a replacement(getting your money back). Newegg is the best, I returned a 40GB IBM deskstart last month and they sent a 60GB Hitachi(still IBM) to replace it since they were oos of the 40Gigers. No fees or anything like that, but you will be out of shipping the rma to them. You can get your rma number from their web site, put the number on the box and send it in the same day. it takes about a week for them to send you another one.

edit: I doubt ABit will issue you an rma#, they will more than likely tell you to rma it with whomever you purchased it from.

RMA it if you have determined its a flawed board.
I recently rma'd an 8rda+ that failed on me.
They sent me a newer 200mhz-capable replacement 8rda+ to my suprise.

I checked their site and it says: Newegg.com guarantees all refurbished product for 15 days only.

So, I'd send it back to them, but you need to hurry and call for the RMA #. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and RMA's it with NewEgg. Package went out today. Hopefully will have new one early next week. Until then I am down a cruncher 🙁
