OT: New cruncher won't boot

I'm rationalizing this as being sort of on topic since this computer will likely be by far my best cruncher once I get it up and running (and overclocked). 😉

But for now it won't even boot. Please see my thread over in Technical Support and let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks! 🙂

Edited because I noticed an annoying typo. 😛

Oh, I just bought an Albatron KX18DS Pro (nForce2 Ultra) a few weeks ago for like $55 shipped. Love this mobo, especially the price. I have a 2500+ Barton in it running 11x200 (2200MHz) with PC3200 Corsair Value @ CAS2 (2.7V) and it SCREAMS at ALL DC projects. Lot's of DC bang-for-the-buck! 🙂

I remember a friend having a similar problem with a different board (ASUS). He RMAed the board and afterwards they told him that the 1st IDE channel on his board was just plain dead but influenced the 2nd channel by sending only crap to the chipset. I assume you might have a similar problem here. As BadThad said, RMA is the way to go for you before you invest even more time. 🙁

Bummer. I already spent more on the parts than I was supposed to and there is no FedEx drop site within 30+ miles of my house so I'll probably have to pay to have the Post Office to ship the board back. :disgust:

ive never seen an issue like that before. its odd that the drives are recognized during post but the only way you can get any activity from a bootable cd is to unhook all the drives. crazy! sounds like you did about all you can do from a troubleshooting standpoint so i would just RMA as soon as you can.
