Are you just starting out in the service field? Well if you are this is the tool for you. Get each one of these "KILLER" tools for your secret toolbox that you don't want your boss to know about.

So the next time you F*CK up and tell your boss that the network card was fried or system board was fried and bring it into the shop and find out it works perfectly fine because your a STUPID IDIOT or had a brain fart on the job.. one of these "KILLER" tools will take care of it before your boss finds out.

hmm...if you were to plug that RJ-45 killer into a switch or router would it fry everything else that was connected through it?

or another way of putting this

if you were to have a power surge that fried a piece of your network equipment, is it theoretically possible that it could send a spike down the lines of anything that is plugged into it?

Edit: the power surge scenario is assuming that you are NOT properly grounded.

My guess is yes, and in the process your cables short-out and burn your building down around you.

It's very easy to catch ethernet cables on fire this way... Believe me.... muhasHAHaSHahHAHAAHA

All devices connected to this would short or go open quickly... but who knows how far the damage will go... Try it at work and leave us know. :)

Still amazed that Scott hasn't commented on this one...maybe he's too stunned by all the opportunities the "Killers" could offer to personal-injury lawyers.

BTW: I really don't think I need to mention it on this particular forum, but much like one of my favorite shows, there probably should be a disclaimer...

Voila:
WARNING: The following cables were either created by professionals or under the supervision of professionals. Accordingly, AT and the mods must insist that no one attempt to recreate or reengineer any cable featured in this thread.

P.S. Also baffled as to why everyone that sees this thread uniformly "gets" the big no-no here, but so many folks (present company excluded, of course...) ADAMANTLY ASSERT/PROTEST/FLAME TO THE BITTER END that running UTP outside on the ground/side of a house/between buildings/etc. poses no potential (no pun intended) threat to life/limb/equipment at all.

I advocate wrapping UTP cabling around flourescent light bulbs (note: they must be turned on) and high current electrical wires. This works best if you wrap then perpendicular to each other. Many wraps in a small space are better.
