I have 2 slot 1 300a celerons lying around.Want to smp them into a cracking box. Can someone send/point me to the info on the physical mods needed to do this.
You'll neet a dual-Slot1 motherboard and an operating system that supports SMP, such as Linux or Windows NT. Probably the most affordable dual-Slot1 board is the Tyan Tiger100, aka the 1832DL. No mods are needed to get the chips to cooperate... just plug them in. BTW, if you decide you want to sell those, I might be interested.
On the Celeron , BR1# is not connected from the CPU core to CPU board. That signal line is necessary for the CPU to operate in a dual configuration. http://bxboards.com/dual.htm Dandy Andy will help you out
I'm pretty dam sure that you have to modify (disconnect one of the cores bga connections from the PCB by drilling through the PCB and the BPA connection AND connect a pin of the core to pin 8 of RP6 and then to Pin B75?? of the SlotA connector)
I have modified 17 of those babies and this is definately no easy task (lost _only_ one).
Sorry Russ,
If he had Socket370 Celery's he wouldn't, he could just get a slocket for them, but if they are Slot 1 he will need to do "The Mod"
