OT: NEED HELP FROM XP EXPERTS

I already posted this in the Operting systems forum

I want a game to run on the kid's power user account with the RunAs / admin/password without Having to
type it in all the time. The game is Diablo 2 and it won't even see the cd if it's not run under an Admin account!

I,ve been searching for this for the last 3 days, on all the windows help sites and MVP newsgroups with no answer yet!

I've heard that it is possible after it is run this way the fist time, that you don't have to keep
putting the password, which I won't let the kid have for obvious reasons!

I've been reading through the forums for a while now but can't find
what i'm looking for! Even MS kb is no help.

I read somwhere that you can make the "run as" option permanent and do not have to enter account and password al the time, but with no details. Could anyone help me with this

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Here's the link to the other thread.

I'm not sure I have a clear idea what's going on, my suggestions would be to check user settings, try installing it while in the desired account, or snag a nocd crack.

What is the reason the game needs to be run under the admin account? I mean, it's obviously a permissions issue but what is holding it back? My best guess is either you've got a permissions issue in the registry and/or the Diablo2 directory.

Have you checked the permissions on the Diablo2 directory? Try setting it and all sub folders to full control for power users. If that doesn't work look for Diablo in the registry and check the permissions there.

Let us know what you find and good luck! 🙂

Yes and it still doen't see the cd. It's OK if I use the option to run it as Admin or run on my account wich is in the Admin group.

the game help file specifically states that it as to be installed and run with a admin account.
I have sent an e-mail to "Blizzard" 3 days ago and still no answer.

All settings have been set, rechecked 3-4 times. And can't use a NoCD exe because He plays on BNet.

Somebody from the MSmvp support section talked about setting a string on the exe of the game to make the option
to "run as" permanent and after the first time I wouldn't have to set again .

But he never gave details and hasn't replied either!:disgust:
