Ive decided it's time to upgrade my computer at home (PIII 500 isnt cutting it anymore).

I was wondering if anyone was selling or knew a place where I could buy cheap some parts.
Im specifically looking for
Athlon XP 2000+
ATI Radeon 8500 LE 128 / GeForce4 Ti 4200 128
512 MB PC2700 RAM
MSI KT3 Ultra2

I noticed that there hasnt been a new buyers guide for value gaming on the anandtech website so I was hoping to get some info here.

thanks

I get most of my stuff on the for sale/trade forum right here on Anandtech If you're looking for new try newegg
( Minnie beat me to it )

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I use the FS/FT forum here and then look at newegg for my new stuff... 😉

I agree with minendo and freewolf........ 🙂

Not sure if anyone has told you our secret yet, but I will spill the beans. First try the FS/FT forum here but try newegg.com for new stuff!

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone I told you this! 😉 😀

I also check the hot deals forum. You can find some smokin bargins in there from time to time! Trust me, my credit card is FULL OF THEM!!!!

Good advice! Newegg is excellent and my first choice for web buying.

I know your looking at AMD, but I have a P4 1.8 GHz (non-northwood) for sale $114 shipped. If it will be used to crunch for the TeAm, I will sell it for $100 shipped! 🙂

Another chime in for NewEgg!

I've found their prices to be simply incredible; even though I have access to some liquidators, I find NewEgg's prices to be usually within just a couple dollars of the liquidator prices and you don't need a reseller license to buy from NewEgg. 😉

LOL @ Mofunk!! 😀

I don't know if you have a Fry's near you or not, but the one here is running the MSI KT3 Ultra and an XP 2000+ for $139.00

I always check Pricewatch first, but I will not buy from just anyone. I have had good luck with the following:

Newegg
Monarch Computers (I can drive to their shop)
Crucial.com
Mwave
Accubyte
EconoPC
TCWO
Compuplus
CDW

I've bought from a few others, but these stand out. I would also check any vendor you select on Reseller Ratings. That often elinamtes the cheapers vendors. Note: AnandTech also has a rating section: Click Here.

Enjoy the switch from Intel to AMD. I've been running an original 1 Gig Athlon since it came out. Just ordered a AX1600DMT3C - AGOIA0213 which is a XP 1600 that is supposed to have the best Overclocking ability of the XP's yet. GameVe.com had it on Pricewatch for $54.95 with free shipping. It is supposed to run as fast as a XP 2000 or 2200 depending on your Motherboard and Ram. We'll see, I have an old ASUS266 that I flashed the BIOS and it says it will go up to a 2200. It has been nice and running at 142FSB (284 Data rate). I hope to be able to hit 160FSB with the new XP chip which would translate to pretty darned close to the new 333 data rate.
