World Wind allows any user to zoom from outer space into any place on Earth. World Wind leverages satellite imagery and elevation data to allow users to experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if they were really there. Virtually visit anyplace in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps or along the African Sahara.

It is a very cool program, but a lot of the data is very outdated.

The program did provide my neighbor and I a good laugh though. I printed him a map of his property, while he was examineing the map his wife walked up and said "Oh an aerial photo" at which point "I told her it was a satalite image and she should be more careful when she walks in front of her windows." She turned about six shades of red and her husband and I had a good laugh.

Am installing WW now - Already had Google Earth.

It's funny, with GE I can see individual roofing sections on my friends house over in Port Orchard but my property is a big blob. I want to see if WW does my property any better.

I'm also interested in the GPS plugin, I've just installed it and am looking up how to use it.

Good stuff, thanks for the links!

You don't need to use IE - Just install it.
When it tells you it's not your default browser just say "no, go away, don't bother me again"
You already have IE installed if you have W98SE - you just need to update it.
I really wouldn't let that be a reason to not get nifty cool software - I use FF everywhere myself.
When I click something in WorldWind that opens a web browser, it opens FireFox.

Google Earth has more aerial photography, whereas most of WW is satellite.
