:disgust: My AMD XP 1500 is down, is been acting like crazy since yesterday, crashing left and right for not reason and either surfing or just moving files on the network, it only last for about 10 or 15 minutes and then BSOD with some messages about crosslinks or something about the temp folder or another one about DUMP (?).
I redo the system 3 times formatting all the way and resizing the HDDs and still is doing the same crap.

My system is an Epox 8K7A with XP 1500+, 512 DDR Zeus RAM, 60 gigs IBM Desktar, and a 30 gigs Maxtor, with SB Live and ATI AGP 64 Ram video.

PLease help me to find out what is going on. :(

Thanks

Aren't those IBM drives prone to failure?

Also, can you swap for different RAM?

Are you overclocking? If so, back it down a notch or two.

That is what I was thinking about the IBM drive, this is my second one, the first one crashed a year ago and they replaced it.
I'm not Oc'ing, so I hope that with this memory is Ok, but I will not rule that out. You might wonder from where I'm writing (this is my spare pc, the one that I'm using to learn Linux).

Can you install the OS to the Maxtor drive?

Or maybe try a different IDE connector on the m/b? I know that sounds goofy...but hey.....

I have to work on two of my servers tonight. Just got two PIII-1.0GHz cpus (to go into my SQL Server) and I'll toss its PIII-933 into another server so I'll have two duals...more crunching power! :)

I already did that, and is been running with no problems for the last 1 1/2 hour. I think that the IBM was the cause of the crashes, and I will RMA the sucker.

Thanks

Those IBMs seem fast but prone to failure. I have 2 60GXPs (supposed to be the reliable ones) in RAID 0 and one of them died about a month ago. Funny, that's not what I expect from someone like IBM. Oh well, they replaced it pretty fast:)

Hi Swanny, did they replaced it for the same type of HDD and same size?
