Just before leaving for work today, while I was Online at Anandtech DC Forums, Intel's monitoring software popped open and audio alarms sounded. It declared that the secondary box fan's temp was in the "RED" range and the CPU's monitor was showing it's temp near the red range. I shut down some programs I had open and it helped some but still at very high elevated temp levels.

I shut down the pc and will try to grab a can of air (or 3) tonight and hope that does the trick. But I am afraid I'll have to invest in some new fans since the pc (3.06ghz intel w/1gig ram - 5 hard drives and assorted little toys) has been running 24/7 for over a year now...

My apologies to the gang running Folding @ Home and Dimes while my box is "UNDER" the weather. :(

Sorry to hear that TurtleBlue.

Now is a good time to re-apply some artic silver or similar product as well. A year is a long time between applications;)

Hope you get her cooled down :p

Main rig is back online...

Just about expended a can of air blasting out KING KONG size dust bunnies out of the Main PC Tower unit...can I sell this stuff at EBay?

Also purchased the following - to be installed this weekend - I hope!
  • Zalman all copper Ultra Quite CPU Cooler - this beast is HUGE!
  • 1 tube of Arctic Silver #5
  • 2 120mm fans
  • 4 80mm fans (2 thermallly controlled)

CPU is now running at 49celsius, according to Intel's Active Monitor, will let you know Wolfie what the Zalman cooler will accomplish.

Thanks for concern...
