am currently working in a computer lab, getting paid around $9.70 an hour to sit around and help users who have problems, and to answer questions, etc. This lab happens to have a total of 10 computers in it, and there are almost never users in here during class times. So its busy for maybe 10 minutes at a time, 4-6 times during the day.

What I am trying to find is a job that I can do while I am here. I have already talked with my boss, and as long as it doesnt prevent me from answering a question when it comes up, it is ok by him. The one that I had approved was to do web-design, since that could be done at my own pace during the day, and would be easy to suspend for a few minutes while answering a question. Unfortunately I havn't been able to find any jobs exactly like that available now.

Any other ideas on jobs that you can do from a work setting? Customer Service would almost be possible, but that would be a weird situation. I can always type things up/design things, etc, but I havnt found any jobs like that.

Please help!

Well..............................My wife says she can show you how to make "Scrubbies" :D

Thats what she did when she wasa security guard........Crochet nylon mesh strips and make pot scrubbers. :disgust:
Did more than 500 of them @ $3 a piece.:D

And it passes the time, too ;)

Well... you could do contract programming if you are skilled in that area... or there are lots of companies that parcel out records transcription jobs like law firms or medical firms... you would look for that type of work in the part time help wanted section of your local newspaper or even over the internet for that matter and it's obvious you can type! :)

I guess if I could think of things I could make at work and then sell on e-bay that would work too :). Unfortunately dell and emachines are getting too competitive on computer prices or I'd sell those online again :).

My suggestion probably won't help you, since you're looking for a paying job, but I'd get myself involved in some sort of open source development project. Java or php somthing or other. You'd learn lots and it would look great on a resume.

Check out hot deals on all the different forums as start selling. Or you could just urf ebay for mispellings/listings & get items cheap. Then turn around & do it the right way for some $$$.

I could do that but it might be asking for trouble if I can't resell :)

Can't scanners do that nowadays? I would think they would be as/more accurate than humans hehe.

If not I could be the type of person who goes through text to make sure there aren't errors.

hrm, so many possibilities, so little job opportunities that I've found so far :)

She sold them Everywhere. Mostly to friends. I took some to work and gave a few as gifts....then when there friends saw them they wanted them. Darn things(no pun intended) last 10 times as long as commercial scrubpads and work better. Non-abrasive....won't scratch the paint on your car, or your aluminum wheels, and has thousands of other uses. A little dish soap on 'em and work just like a Brillo pad.

And the best thing ...you can get them in any color that the mesh comes in. Most popular is purple. Have one Girl at work did her Kitchen in red white and blue....she already had red and white, so Mama made Blue ones just for her.
