i have just got a Logitech cordless optical mouse, and all i can say is WOW

Much smoother than my old mouse, and i can use it anywhere in my room!

just wondering what the battery life is like on this, and is the 5 weeks i've heard about including leaving it turned on overnight etc when the computer isn't in use (but on of course, due to Seti :)), and also does anyone know if it will affect my Seti WU times much??

i can definately recommend this mouse to anyone who needs, or wants, a new mouse!

I've been using Logitech Cordless mice and keyboards for almost two years now. The mouse battery will last about three months and the keyboard's about 6. As far as impact on your system, there is none.

Hey Ober, your times are much better than mine then. I usually get about 5 months out of my keyboard, however my mouse battery life just plain sucks. I usually if I am lucky can get 2 months out of it but more likely 1 month. Don't know why but it really sucks replacing the damn batteries. However I just retired my logitech wireless set in favor of a MS Natural keyboard, and Mouseman + combo.

I have the cordless optical Logitech too, but I think I'm switching back to the Microsoft optical because my hands prefer the shape (although I'll miss the cordless aspect-- I hear MS will have a cordless optical of their own before long). Anyone want to buy my Logitech Cordless Optical for, say, $30 shipped* including a spare pair of Energizer AA's?

Speaking of batteries, the first set of alkaline AA's that came with it lasted perhaps 3 weeks, although I was running my system pretty much 24/7. The mouse does go into a power-conservation mode after it's been sitting still for about a minute. I take PayPal, or personal checks if I have some clue who you are. ;)

The distance to the receiver will impact battery life. My mouse and keyboard are only a foot or so away from the reciever most of the time, which may be why I get relatively long battery life. Not having the cords has really helped my ergonomics and also allows my mouse to work in about a 6 inch square, roughly the same space as a large trackball setup.
