I'll sell you my old one. GF2 Pro, works ok in UT2K3, but I wanted more🙂

I just enquired about an extra 8Mb VRAM for my onboard TNT2 so I could play UT2K3 a bit better.. They want £90 !!!!!!!!!!! (around $140 !!!)

Told them where to stick it......

Not surprising at all; numerous times I've found in experience with Compaq, that when we needed to replace a failed motherboard on an older model Proliant 1500 server, they'd quote a price of like $900, and I'd say yeah, but for $1,600 I can buy an entirely new server! And they'd be kinda like "Yes, and your point is..?" The result being that the company doesn't want to bother with supporting the older systems beyond a certain point. From that standpoint it makes sense, but on the other hand I'm thinking, geez, wouldn't you rather unload your old parts stock so it doesn't just get tossed and you take a complete loss later? 😕

Apparently, corporate mindsets are a little different from those of you and me.

So my only option before I get a new system is to get a PCI video card, I think you can get 64Mb ones for around £50 but I wonder will it be worth it ? Or will the PCI bus be a big bottleneck ?

Pesky onboard video !!!!!!! I suppose at the time though 8Mb TNT2 was kick ass.......

Yea, my computer is in need of a new video card as well - that old Radeon SDR PCI just doesn't run UT2k3 very well. It's just a shame that I recently had to get a new 19 inch monitor to replace my ancient 17 incher that crapped out. ;-)

If you can get a PCI video card (perhaps a Radeon of some sort?) with 64MB of RAM, you won't be able to see stellar performance, but there shouldn't be too many lags in the game as long as you don't use ultra-high res textures.

Colin,

Or you could always get that new system bought/built 🙂

With a nice spanky gfx card

😉

Nice buy Swanny 🙂

LOL Confused......

Your gonna make me do it, aren't you ??????
