Hi Buddies and team mates.

I looked at my buddy list (which really is long) and saw that I have not seen around or heard from quite a few of you - my buddies - for quite some time ...

I hope that "real life" deals well with you, that there is little or no trouble around, and that, if you have trouble, it is of the kind that is solved easily:

Such as: "OK this comp does not crunch that fast anymore - Nice having a few $ for an upgrade and the wife/GF/daughter does not mind --- what should I get?"

My life is dealing very well with me. All looks well - not too bad at all. Autumn is approaching with fast strides, in a week we will pass the equinox, then the days will rapidely become shorter. And thats OK - I do not mind the possibility of candle lights, exterior illumination and a starsprangled sky.

I wish you all well, and if you want, why don't you write a line or two in this post ... :)

Don't know if I am on your buddy list but enjoyed seeing your posts. Life for me is going good as well and I am enjoying this quiet time. Let's see how long it will last before it gets interesting again.

Living in Northern Alberta Canada, I am close in being the same distance north as you in Sweden. We just had snow this morning so fall just seemed to have disappeared. Just 2 two days ago we were enjoying mid 20 degree centigrade summer like days for close to a two week stretch. There is a nasty rumor going around that winter will be coming soon and with vengeance, making up for our mild one last year.

I too am looking forward to seeing the northern lights as I am sure you get them too where you are.

Hello there.

I've been in my basement for the past twenty-four hours trying to figure out my pc problems. I missed work, & I'm feeling fustrated to the point of helplessness. Taiwan operates on a different clock, so everything is moving very slowly. You just want to put all the pieces together & get to work, but occassionally something like this happens.

Hi petrusbroder! Good to hear from you! :)

Lately, life's been treating me like I'm the only fire hydrant in a world of dogs, but it could be worse. :)

The world flocks to you, because they have confidence in you. You are needed by many, but only have time for a few.:)

Hey Peter! Glad to hear all is well with you :)

I had a great trip to Fort Knox, Kentucky (2,000 mile round trip) to see my 18 year old son. He finished "boot camp" basic training for Army National Guard. He lived through it  and is happy to be starting diesel mechanic training. We've been missing him.

Glad to hear that you're doing fine, Peter! I know you had a pretty busy life recently, so it's good to hear it's easing up on you.

I'm still busy with writing papers for uni in September. But in the first two weeks of October, my wife and I try to get out of this palce for a couple of days and to the last mountain hiking before winter comes. I just love the Alps in autumn!

But yes, you 're right, a lot of People have gone astray. For example, where's mrwizer? I saw him produce for Rosetta recently, but haven't seen him on the forums for ages!

Hi Ray,
I know exactly the feeling. Somtimes I say that I am a lamp post (we do not have fire hydrants in Sweden) and life is full of dogs ...
To say "hang in there" may sound preposterous, but it is heartfelt: :sun:

Thanks for coming by, Team- and TAS-mates, and good hearing from you!
I am somewhat envious of BMC - it is wonderfull being in the mountains in autumn. In one week we will have the golden season - when all the birtches turn their leaves golden yellow, and the other trees turn fiery red ...

@ GLeeM: boot camp may not have been too much fun ... but he passed. And you have all the reason to be proud of your son :) I suppose that he now knows more of what he can accomplish than before - and that is a great result of military training.

@Coquito and Ayah: yeah, frustrationg, maddening, but still - later - very much satisfying. ;) I just got a new (used mobo which fits a AMD XP 3200+ - we will see if I can build this comp during the week end...

You have been and always will be my friend, you are on my buddy list as well :p

Life is getting better everyday, next week I will officially become a parts sales manager at my local autozone, not the highest paying job but fun nonetheless. I am studying for the psm ase certification and if I can pass the pretest before sunday, autozone will pay for my testing.

I also made a 82.40 on my postal exam, waiting to hear if that gets me a better paying job, though it might be hard to move away from the fun I am enjoying at autozone lol

I am absorbed lately in the world of warcraft (Wolftrader) and doing computer builds for my coworkers and commerecial account holders.

I miss all of you, but am finally making progress away from the computer lol

I hope you all take care and enjoy life, life is too short.

Mike

Cheers and salud. :) Life is insane right now. I've been out of the Navy for nearly two months, and I'm still getting used to the fact. Two days ago I was thinking about being on a ship, underway, trying to fall asleep in my rack, and then it hit me that I will never do that again. Kinda strange...

But everything is going decently well thus far. Funds are getting shallow, and I decided that I'm going to sell my machine and replace it with something smaller, cooler, and quieter. And of course me and my "Lady Lizardth of Arctic Silver in the hot state of Texas" are both still searching for jobs and all that wonderful business. Yeehah. :D

 and :wine:, for everyone doing well in theirs...

I've chosen to feel good about my linear circuit analysis exam last night, because I might as well not worry about it until I get my grade and can no longer feel good about it. I wish they had problems about fixing DC installations - maybe I should be doing computer information technology instead of engineering...

Nah, bad idea; I'd be too prone to go "office space" on the annoyingly fragile laser printers.

Thanks for starting the thread Peter, I'm glad to hear all these positive stories and it's good to "touch base" with teammates like this. :D

We just got our 6 kids outfitted for school, 2 in elementary, 1 in middle and 3 in High School.
In our family we outfit all the kids in the fall just before school so they all have new duds to wear to school, we will have to buy them all some new stuff a couple more times during the year but we can stagger those purchases.
Of course there's also school fees and all that stuff.
Do you people know how much a high school yearbook costs now?
$60.00 each!!!
And now middle schoolers have to have a yearbook too! $28.00
Of course there are sports fees & ASB cards etc etc etc...

So that's behind us now, though not far enough behind that we don't feel the sting of it.
I really don't know what I'm going to do when they start wanting to go to college.
The oldest two do not seem likely to actually want to do it, so realistically I've got about 'till 2010 before I have to pay for college. I intend to push them towards Bellevue Community for their first two years - then after they get a bunch of basic credits behind them they will more likely know what they really want to do.

The weather has changed here in North West Washington state. Last weekend it was 80 - 85F. This weekend it will be in the upper 50s. I get to work by 7AM so I've been watching the morning daylight fade slowly away until this morning it was actually dark when I got up. At least working from 7AM - 3PM means there will be several hours of daylight after work for a while yet. Middle winter there will only be a couple hours of daylight after work, I may adjust to a 6AM - 2PM schedule just to get a bit more daylight after work.
Fall & winter are nice for the home theater, since it gets dark so early we can catch up on a bunch of dvd's and hdtv. Still I enjoy the sunshine we had this summer, it was so much warmer & nicer than last summer. I haven't given in and worn a jacket yet although yesterday morning it was raining when I got to work and I thought I should have brought my jacket just in case.

Sept 1st was my 1 year anniversary of working in the IT dept at King County Library.
I'm their "Database Specialist".
It's funny how many people get a really far away look in their eyes when you start talking about databases. It's like a wave of numbness just overtakes their minds. For the most part I enjoy this position, there are enough challenges and enough freedom to make me happy. I still have my hand in a couple of startup businesses and my app hosting server still brings in more than enough revenue to keep it floating.

Almost all my PC's are running great, I have increased the OC on a couple of them since the temps fell. I have one that I need to replace the HD on, and Crazy is sending me a 2500 barton so I'll replace the 900mhz Athlon and the HDD and have another Rosey cruncher running. I may just retire my P3 1.26ghz at that time. It has about a 70 RAC so it just isn't much worth the power it consumes. It's mainly just a web surfing machine for the kids.

Anyway, this is really long - sorry if that bothers anyone ;)

TAandy... hehehehe. Man, I haven't had a good drink in a while. I think I've gotten buzzed while drinking once so far since I've been out of the Navy (two months on the 21st). Kinda crazy.

Or IT. Or overclocking PCs......hehehe.

Except for on forums like this, or with other IT/PC enthusiasts (geeks) :D.

Good to hear most everyone is doing well. :) I've been keeping a lower profile than usual as I've been quite busy with work and other home projects. As the weather gets cooler, I'll fire up another couple rigs to warm the basement but I've been content to crunch DC projects at a more leisurely rate for the summer. A nice balance.

Hey Peter :)

I haven't been around too much lately because work has been rather hectic. I received a promotion and have a lot more responsibility but still am doing my old duties until I can hire my replacement.

But no matter how hectic things get, I am blessed with a gorgeous, successful, intelligent wife who makes me quickly forget about work :D

I am so happy to read that "real life" is not dealing too bad with you all. :D
A lot of work? Yeah, Many of us and I too can subscribe to that - and IMHO - I prefer that to the alternative: being bored at work! ;)
Broken computers - or such that do not work at once when assamvbled? I prefer that to no comps at all? :)

I am in a good mood today (and was yesterday) becuse I think that somesting very very good may be going on --- and I ain't telling! ;)
