OT: Interesting F@H with P4 HT

Today I tested Folding with my new Dell 2.6C HT. There are some interesting points I would like to make here. This is the result of folding only 1 client. I use graphic client version with about 95-98% CPU usage.

HT enable
1. Fold only, 4 mins per step. CPU usage about 48%, ** both CPU0, CPU1 enable for Fahcore_68.**
2. Fold and Encode mpeg file together, 6 mins per step and 21 mins for encoding, CPU usage about 100% **both work the same time because since HT enable both get priority**.
3. Fold both CPU0, CPU1 and Encode only on CPU0, 6 mins per step and 23 mins for encoding, CPU usage about 98% ** Encode max to CPU usage 50% only on CPU0**
4. Fold on CPU0 and Encode on CPU1, 6 mins per step and 23 mins for encoding.
4. Fold only on CPU1, 6 mins per step CPU usage 48-50%
5. Encode only or both CPU0, CPU1, 15 mins to complete, CPU usage 60-70%

HT disable
1. Fold only, 4 mins per step CPU usage about 98%
2. Encode only 16 mins to complete CPU usage about 100% ** if fold and encode at the same time Encoding will get priority so the time would not change much.

So in my conclusion
1. HT enable is a bit faster than HT disable on both Folding (fold with 2 clients on each CPU) and Encoding.
2. There is not much benefit if fold only one client on HT compare to non-HT.
3. CPU usage on Window Task Manager doesn't refect the correct information on HT system.
4. HT system can do 2 tasks more efficiency than non-HT system.

NOTE:
1. too bad I cannot monitor temperatures on CPU, otherwise I should know if the CPU usage on HT enable system is correct or not.
2. Sorry if my message not clear enough to understand but this is the best I can do and beside English is not my mother language.

Good information, thanks Yai! And your English is fine, unlike many of the people whose mother language is English, like this guy: thread. You even have the correct use of "too" and "to". 😀

Thanks, that's some excellent work, Yai. Please don't worry about your English; you're perfectly comprehendible (I noticed only a few small grammar errors in your message, and your spelling is quite all right), unlike some native English speakers. 🙂
