I'll cut to the chase, I have an AT&T Fuze (HTC Touch Pro), and I've already spent more than I paid for it fixing it. I got the phone for $149 from AT&T Business Care, and I've already spent $100 on a new LCD and digitizer and I just spent $60 to repair the speakerphone wire that I cut while I was closing the phone up during said LCD repair operation.

Since I have to send the phone away for repairs, I figured I needed something to use for the time being. I went over to the AT&T store, and asked for the cheapest way to walk out with a phone. Option 1: Nokia 2600 Classic for $199 with no contract, no thank you. Option 2: Buy and activate a GoPhone. Option 3: AT&T employee: "You should just drop by Wal-Mart and grab a GoPhone, they don't require activation. Throw the papers that came with it away and just pop in your SIM card."

Off to Wal-Mart and out with a Nokia 2610 for $30 and some change. I fucking love this thing. I don't have to worry about not being able to make phone calls because the dialer app is stuck in landscape mode when the phone is in portrait mode. I don't have to worry about dropping calls in my apartment because this thing is a PHONE first and foremost. I also haven't charged it yet, and it's still fully charged, I've been using it for more than 24 hours now.

Seriously, if this thing had Bluetooth or a SLIGHTLY larger screen (like the Nokia 1006 metroPCS sells) I would sell my Fuze and just go back to simpler times, without Wi-Fi or 3G.

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=931 - I love this thing.

So, this GoPhone, you don't have to sign any contracts with it? Its completely untraceable if you pay with cash correct? You see, I ask this because I need a phone to conduct my buisness with, and it needs to be untraceable. Please, answer my questions honestly, my friend.

I have one I got when my phone (Blackberry Pearl) broke. Speaker volume sucks and can't be changed. Still, I only paid $20 for it, so it makes a good backup.

I love my Samsung Rant (M-540). Sure it looks like a teen's texting phone but it does everything a smart phone can:

-full keyboard texting
-full browser capability (compatible with third party ones like Opera Mini)
-integrated email support with multiple accounts
-stock, news, weather applets on desktop screen
-tethering!

All for $30 with my bad ass SERO plan (now grandfathered).

I don't know the model number of my phone, but it's a very simple Nokia candy-bar designed phone. I love it. It can TXT and call, and that's all I need in a phone. No need for a shitty camera, I don't need to be wired to the internet everywhere I go, it's a basic communication device. It was cheap and I've had it for 2 years and it has never skipped a beat - never crashed, never dropped a call, nothing. After 2 years the battery still lasts a week on a charge. Love it.

Finally, someone that agrees with me. Half the people my age want or have iPhones or BlackBerries or whatever other expensive-ass smart phones are out today. I don't get it... When it was time for my last upgrade, I splurged and got a $30 phone. Every other time I've gone with a free option.

Is that the one with a blue sticker on the front of the box that says "free $15 airtime"? If so you might even be in for a surprise next month...look for 150 bonus airtime minutes!

Wait, for real? Even though I'm on an AT&T contract and not a GoPhone plan? They got some kind of system that can tell when the IMEI of a phone offering the promotion is on and they just automatically process credit?

I could use 150 minutes :D
