I made a deal with someone to buy a cpu and a motherboard. Deal was made on saturday, with him to ship on monday. He's a new trader, so he was suppost to ship first. Yesterday I sent him a PM asking if he shipped the items. I sent him another one today. No responce to either.

How long till I'm no longer obligated to the deal? I need a CPU by saturday at the latest....

Well, I have pissed a few people off by doing this, but for me, money talks.

If I am selling something and someone says they will take it.......and they don't respond back within 2 days, after I tell them they can have it, I say screw them and sell to the next guy.

If you are BUYING.....well, as SOON as you think he isn't going to get back with you, screw it! Just email him one more time saying sorry, but I am pulling out due to YOU not getting abck with me.

2 days is enough for me...

2 days of no contact, when he's supposed to have shipped goods seems a bit long for no contact. OTOH, a number of people don't login to the forums over an entire weekend. I know that seems like sacrilege to a number of you "lifers", but some of us try to have a life outside ATF.

I'm one of those who would consider edro13 to be in breach of contract for unilaterally cancelling deals that he had agreed to, merely because he hadn't heard from the buyer in a couple of days. That said, this thread is too short to provide specifics as to WHY he canceled the deals, and I might have done exactly as he did. It's more a matter of trading style/attitude.

Hopefully you'll get an email response. Also, when was the last time he logged in to the forums (view profile)?

I agree with edro13. If you are serious about buying something and are supposed to be sending payment, you better seal the deal as soon as possible. I don't mind waiting if someone requests that I wait. But if they want to purchase it, say they are going to pay, then I don't hear from them for two days, I move on.

I sent him a PM on the 21st at 3PM asking what the status was. His last time logged in was the 21st at 8PM. He saw the PM as far as I am concerned and ignored it.

I sent him an email last night at 8:45. No response yet.

It doesn't seem fair to me that I have to wait a week to hear from him on whether he shipped or not. According to his profile, he lives in Ohio. If he shipped on monday, it should have been here yesterday.

I'm thinking I can consider this deal void. But what happens if he ships it today and I get it next week sometime? Then I have to pay for it or pay shipping back to him?

I have a 24 hour rule. If you pm or email me wanting to buy something, but I cannot reach you for the next 24 hours to work out the details, I put the item back up for sale. 24 hours, imo, is more than enough time for any reasonable person to hop on the net and send a short message confirming the sale. And if you don't have regular access to the net, you shouldn't be trading because it will simply cause problems.

At this point, since you have contacted him several times over the last week, you are free and clear. Look for another deal. If he has shipped the item, simply mark it return to sender and let him worry about the postage. Make sure you email or pm him the reason why you refused the trade, for your records, and keep a copy of ALL correspondence for 90 days.

well this is nice

the guy won't respond to my PM's or Emails, but he sent the package. I got it to today. I guess I'll ship it back to him...

and no, I didn't get his phone number. i think in all my deals i've exchanged numbers once.
