I'm buiding a dual Athlon XP 1800+ for a friend and we're interested in benchmarking the machine during this weekend.

I'm gonna run the ECCp-109 client in both processors for a while to monitor the CPU temperature.

What I needed is a couple of programs to benchmark the HD (SCSI setup) and the memory (1 Gb DDR non-ECC).

Thanks

EDIT: a couple of specs for your amusement

Dual Athlon MP 1800+
Asus A7M266-D (AMD 760MPX) Series motherboard
1 Gb DDR 266 Micron

IBM 35.6 Gb SCSI HD
Adaptec 29160 SCSI Controller
Plextor PlexWriter 12x10x32 SCSI CD-RW
Plextor Ultraplex 40x SCSI CD-Rom
Dual Phillips 107T Real Flat monitors

good question, the best way to burn in HD's is to wipe free space with 35 passes I use Eraser to do that, for memory would memman do it?

for benchmarking anand uses some "nice" programs some of which have free versions. I would look into that.

for proper CPU burnin I would need his machine for atleast a month, 1 week on each large project to fully work all area's of his CPU, 1 week folding, 1 week seti, one week ECCP, and one week of somthing RC5 like for FPU.

I don't know if the Distributed Folding client is SMP compliant, but supposedly the newest client can make more extensive use of memory(up to 150 meg) and thus crunch units faster. Perhaps you could set up seperate directories and run a client on each CPU.. that could effectively use 300 meg of memory, both CPUs and benefit TA. :D

Thanks for the replys,

What I did after installing W2k was:

Memtest86
Prime 95 Torture Test (it's still running strong after 16 hours)
3D Mark 2001 SE

Now the owner is picking the dualie in about 5 hours so I'll install the ECCp-109 client in both processors using FireDaemon so I can better acess the advantages/disadvantages of going dualie

SMP doesn't inflict performance penalty for ECCp or d.net projects. Only stuff with high requirements for memory bandwith suffer some.

The guy came to pick up the dualie a few minutes ago :(

It was only able to clock close to 200 DP's :(

Darn :(

I was just about to say that i will be borrowing the PC Check disks we use at work, tests Memory, hard drives etc (pretty much everything). A computer won't leave the shop unless it's passed all the tests.

It takes about 30-60 mins to run, but can pick up most problems (but you don't get any DPs or WUs done using it, but still good :))

Shame you couldn't get more DPs off it :(
