OT: hot deal or switcheroo? (antec case)

Well i was following up on a post here about a month ago and called CompUSA back to see if they still had the Antec 282+pp303x in stock and if the price was lower than $80 yet. The manager said they had 4 in stock and he would hold one for me.

I told him about the HOT deals gotten on these around CompUSA's and he agreed to sell it to me at $38.99. When I got there today they gave me a KS280+pp303x and said they were giving me that instead since the 282's had already been shipeed back. The 280 was priced at $99 (where the 282 was $79). The guy told me I was getting an even better case in the 280 as evidenced by the price.

Is this true? It would seem that a higher number would suggest a newer/better product....but the 282 WAS $79 where the 280 was $99. The speccs are only slightly different and appearance is very similar. Any help or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong forum . . . prolly wanna ask in cases/cooling. But I've never heard of the 280. It sounds like it'd be a different version of the 282. Probably the same case with a slight difference? Dunno for sure though.

The KS280 would be a better deal than the KS282, especially at $38.99. The KS280 is in Antec's premium line of cases Link. This is a hot deal if you can get it for $39. Looks like I will be dropping by my local CompUSA Monday.

For what it's worth the Antec site has the 280 also priced about $20 more than the 282 with similar ps's.

The 280 does have an additional 3.5 external drive bay which is kinda nice.

Antec is charging $89 for the 280 with only a 250w ps.

Biggest difference in the "stock" offerings is the PS (50w more
on the 282), and all drives bays are externally accessible on the
KS-282.

Seems like a pretty good deal, especially if you confirmed that
you are receiving the PP-303X, instead of the standard 250W on the
KS-280.

I opened it up and checked the ps....it *is* the pp303x (300w) "Smartpower".....

Lanyap, how did you get into the antec site? It has been down (for me) for the last 3 days.

donerb, is that correct that the 280 will take a 92mm fan? if so, that is another difference cause the 282 takes an 80mm.
