OT: Help purchasing a KVM.

I have my usb mouse going through a converter to PS2. You might have to do the same.... 🙁

I wish they woudl make KVMS that support USB keyboard and mice(That I can afford, I haven't seen any that support them yet, though)
 
In that link to Tomshardware they ran several tests and one of them (test #7) says they plugged a USB mouse into it and switched from one computer to another fine without loosing any button functions. Also in that review are several others that do USB switching you may want to check it out IJump.😉 I just can't figure out from any of the pictures where you would plug the darn thing in at.😕
 
Well for us real cheap people they have this available --> VNC

I use it for my many machines, and a freind even has it working on his mixed network (*nix & windows) so it seems to work well enough. Only drawback is that it takes a few sys resources 🙁 - but it is FREE 😀

It looks like the model that the review was about was the PS/2 one. Belkin does have 2 and 4 port models that accept a USB keyboard and USB mouse: USB KVM
 
Thanks for the info on that product Ray. Does that model come in a 4pc version. Also do models F1DS102T and F1DS104T support USB? The review says they do and Belkin's website says so also but the pics they have of those models don't show where to plug the crap in at.
 
Ahhh, KVMs.... I bought a Maxxtro 8 port KVM for $20. Of course, at the time, what I didn't know was that the cables would run me in the neighborhood of $15/ea. Over the course of approx 8 mos, I have managed to snag all 8 cables. The last one of these I saw go on EBAY with all cables ran $200+. It's not a bad unit, and it works well for my 5 machines, plus the addl spare cable for the latest work in progress (currently connected to either a Supermicro dualie, or my latest, a FIC KA-6100 with some kind of CMOS problem).
 
I have the belkin 4 port and love it! I use the little green adapter to plug my usb mouse into the ps2 port.
I now am looking for an 8 port belkin!

One word of caution...Iwill motherboards do not work with kvm's.
I RMA'd my first Iwill dual DVD266R (great board) because it wouldn't work with the KVM.
Their tech's said they won't support use with kvm's and preferred that customers use all usb.

That is when I decided to stop using Iwill.
 
Anyone if I used that little PS/2 adapter with my intellimouse explorer will I loose functions for any any of the buttons?

Cakin- Is it that you plug your PS/2 mouse and keyboard into the KVm and then instead of plugging two PS/2 cords from the KVM to the boxes you just have to plug one USB plug from the KVM to each box?
