Looks like my hard drive was thrown out of a plane @ 30,000 feet, then ran over by a bus then eaten by a dog before ariving in my mailbox :p

Pics of HD box Hosted by smp for your high bandwith perusal Thanks!

I didn't even sign for it, they just left it in my mailbox ( signature conformation ):D I love the USPS. The sad thing is I ship through them all the time.

I'm sorry, we all know USPS can be like the US soccer team sometimes, but c'mon
hard drives deserve a little more packing than that slim priority box!

That thing was stuffed with huge amounts of bubble wrap. That was one of the better packing jobs I have seen. For goodness sakes, I got a stick of ram in a envelope. but of course the ram was in a static faraday cage, so it was protected :D

It still took me a while to get that fricking box open, and the drive out.

Amen!

I have sold several drives and would not have even considered using
that.

did you take out the drive and look at it? have you tried testing it? maybe they were testing the durabilty of their boxes or something?

I don't know what it is with folks that continue to send hard drives in these smallest of USPS boxes. I received 2 this way just this week and one of 2 is DOA. :|

No matter how much we harp about the proper way to pack hardware, some people just will not learn! :(

This one was DOA too, but for what I paid, it is not worth compaining :D I got the, well, dead drive for only $4.70 so it was kinda a good deal even if all I can do with it is look at it, or hold down stacks of paper :D

heh .. I hope they don't test them on stuff headed for my house!

Evadman: I have taken the liberty of re-posting your pics cause they loaded really slow ..
I hope you don't mind.

edit: Added a pic of something I recieved today, just to compare. I got an SK-6 from creedawg and it was packaged so fine you could send fine china in that box. You'll notice in the pic that he put the original SK-6 box in the bigger box that was full of crumpled newspapers. One of the best packaging jobs I've seen.

heheh .. it's not really high bandwidth. I just photoshopped em (or image readied em, whatever) so they're smaller, should load faster anyways. I've also added some stuff but high bandwidth it's not .. I'm on rogers .. shhhhhh
:)

wow. Thread got moved. I had to bend over backwards to find it and put that bit in there.. I hope you don't mind me adding that other stuff. But I think if we're gonna talk about bad shipping practice, we may as well show some good packaging so that people can see what good packaging is (if they don't know). :)

I don't have photoshop, I only have MS office photo editor. and mine were posted on attbi. Shhhhh more :p Here is a hint. If you never turn off yoru computer, they do not change the IP :)

And no prob on the Adding of a nice shipping job. I once shipped a piece of ram in a quad box. I did it because I was bored. I just kept packing boxes inside of boxes. The guy I sent it to asked me if I was nuts :p
<edit>
Heatware from him: .....he shipped next day priority mail, quick shipment, great price, GREAT PACKAGING!! I've never seen so much packaging for ONE STICK OF RAM, did I say INSANELY packaged???!!!!..
</edit> Hehe.

hehehe.. what about power outs?
Roger's DHCP changes like once a year .. no biggy, you just need some kind of dynamic DNS hosting deal, no big deal.
Oh yeah .. that and modify your hosts.deny file (if you're using *nix) :)
