I want to run a single a project to compare my wife's new gaming machine and my server. Something that it fairly easy to install and setup, and that the results are evident fairly quickly, for comparison reasons.

Both machines are running MS Win XP (32-bit). Something that takes advantage of multiple processors would be nice as well, as I'm comparing 4-logical processors to 1.

You lucky dragon ;)

Everyone here wishes their wife took an interest in DC.

Is she at least joining the TeAm? :D

She's going to be running SETI. She ran SETI classic for a long time, all while she was in college. But she doesn't have it setup, and I don't know if she is going to join the team or not. I'll ask her about it.

 I'm running DPAD up until she gets it all setup. :)

SETI FTW.

EDIT: Make sure she uses the same email to transfer the credits from Classic.

You can do that? I thought those credits were gone. That is why I never went to BOINC. I printed all of my certificates, and then went on to another project...

Benchmark your rigs using DPAD

I'm not running any BOINC projects so i'm not sure if all WUs are created equal.

Your SETI Classic credits aren't really transfered to BOINC SETI.
If you use the same email address as in SETI Classic, then your classic totals will be displayed on you BOINC SETI page.

Hi Fullmetal Chocobo!

You could try EON. It's not Boinked and if I remember, on my Thinkpad Pentium 3 500mhz fossil with 256megs of ram, was easy to install. You can try this and a few other Boinkless DC projects like F@H (shameless plug ;) ) to get an all around picture of who is gonna have bragging rights in your household - a word of advice...let the wifie win this one!

No way will I let her win this one. Just because she won't let me forget that her machine beat mine... I'll probably install some different projects on the testing login on the server. Thanks for the suggestions.

LMAO... you better not get beat by a girl!

I couldn't tell from reading the above, but if you aren't adverse to BOINC, Rosetta might be a fast way to an answer. There isn't a quorum for points and every computer gets exactly what it claims (which is what you need for an apples to apples race)

If you aren't both running AMD or Intel w/SSE2, then F@H is going to favor the Intel (it won't even be close)

I don't mind getting beat by a girl... What I mind would be my server getting beat by her machine... :)
