A little background...i was driving past some road work that was being done on the freeway. A basketball sized object rolled from the site and i ran over it puncturing my tired and slightly damaging my wheel. :|

My question is this...are there places that will repair wheels or do i have to buy some after-market wheel for the car? It's an old '96 Maxima, but i still would rather have all the wheels/hubcaps looking the same. Any suggestions/solutions?

I seriously doubt it.. too much liability.

It depends on the extent of the damage whether or not it can be repaired, but yes, it is possible. However, it might end up costing more to repair it, than it is to buy a new one. If that is the case, and you don't want an aftermarket rim, I'm sure you can find a used wheel from another Maxima on Ebay.

If it's an OEM wheel, just look for another one, preferably nearby as it will cost more in shipping than anything else.

If the wheel is just scratched up, you can get it patched up and repainted.

If its badly dented, you'll need a new one.

Yes there are places that does repair wheels.. and they do really good job, as long as they are bent. If they are ripped or in really bad shape, then I don't think they can do anything about it..

I remember a place in Cincinnati that did it for $95..
You can't even tell after it's fixed..

Think about it this way:

When you bend something, and bend it back, the metal severly weakends. It will ALWAYS have a definate weak point and stress will be likely to bend it again. If the entire weight of the car is on the 4 rims... is that such a good idea?

If you could manage to bang it out enough that it could keep a seal with a tire, then it would be a quick fix until payday at BEST.

Get a new one. Be safe. Save yourself the trouble.

I have local guy that can fix almost anything.

Saw him once repair an aluminum wheel off an Audi that was almost broken in half.

Finally read what happened to the car...

If something from a construction site rolled out... make them pay for it.

It's not your fault they couldn't secure their equipment, why should you pay for it?

Does anybody know any places in Los Angeles open on Sundays that sell regular after-market steel wheels? And also do new tire installations? I tried Pep Boys, they don't have anything but alloy rims, and discount tire isn't open on Sundays.

1. Buy 'new' wheel from junk yard.
2. Replace wheel.
3. Sell old wheel on Ebay with claim that the indentation looks like George W. Bush.
4. Profit!

;)
