(Dug it out of a drawer after getting disgusted with it about a year ago.)

I've tried adding:

seta freelook "0"

to my config but it doesn't work. Can this be done? Do I need a certain patch installed? I'm currently running version 1.11 but I have the patch for 1.27.

ok, why would you want to turn this off? mouselook is the only way to aim in any FPS.

and i'm sure it's available under one of the options... i'm about 98% sure there is a checkbox for it.

I'm not talking about mouselook which can be toggled on and off. I'm talking about freelook which is always on.

I understand most FPS gamers love freelook, however, I do not. I find that I too often get dis-oriented while in a close in fight and find myself looking at either the floor or the ceiling which consequently leeds directly to dead.

If nobody knows the answer is there another site where I could ask this question? I've been out of the gaming circle too long and the bookmarks are long since gone.

Freelook meaning you have to press keys to looks up and down, but you turn and move forward and backwards with the mouse? AFAIK that style of play went out with Doom..

You'll die even more playing like that. No i don't know how to turn that off because I think it's ridiculous.

I'm quite aware, as stated earlier, that the style of play I'm attempting is not for all and may not be the most efficient. But however, it is my style and I've won my share of deathmatches using it.

Now if it's at all possible could I get a reply that actually contains an answer to the question. If the only response is going to be "why would you want to do that" I guess I should have posted my question on a more helpful site.

Yucky,

Actually I chose "Tired of the Bull" after reading useless response after useless response to several posts on this site. There is a tendency for a few of the more senior members of this site to dump on "Junior Members" that ask what they consider an easy or pointless question.(Eventhough it's very important to the person asking.) Instead of answering the question in a quick and painless post or simply ignoring the question completely they choose to post some smart-ass reply. Being helpful seems to be bothersome for those members. They act as if someone is invading their playground when a question doesn't fit into what they consider acceptable boundaries.
