OT becoming.....

I don't think either of the people who made those threads have ever posted in P&N. They are posting them here because they don't feel like discussing it in P&N.

What's the difference then? The same things are being discussed in P&N. Unless you just want to increase you post count.........

I hardly ever go to P&N... I don't mind discussing some news stories here, mainly because people don't get into rampage mode.

Well, for one some people don't even consider the existance of P&N. Second, there are more people posting and therefore more opinions to be had in Off Topic. Third... meh. Why don't you PM those posters and ask them?

Not really. Any political topics that get posted in Off Topic usually turn into just as annoying flame fests as they do in P&N (before they get moved there anyway). It's just trendy to rag on P&N.

I feel the same way. Despite the existence of P&N, some wacky news stories always get posted in OT. Seems like we enjoy those more in here anyway.

QFT. The posts in the threads are nearly the same in content in P&N and OT.

News does not necessarily belong in P&N IMO. Otherwise you'd have to throw all of NFS4's car news posts in there, and all of the sports news posts in there. I think something belongs in P&N if it's likely to spark a political debate. The google thing probably would cause a lot of Bush-bashing, so maybe it belongs in there. The Osama thing, not as much. But who am I to make that decision?

Here's an idea, how about we let the MODERATORS do their job and not question them so damn much? They're aware of those threads, if they choose not to lock them or move them, that's their decision. Who does it hurt?

P&N isn't really a forum section. Its sort of like a landfill-no wait...its more like a bug zapper. We hate bugs, they're annoying. Now we can try to repel bugs, but some always sneak through, the bigger ones usually. Or we can create something that attracts the bugs and gets rid of them. See, bugs think the big zapper is just a cool light for them to buzz around...but its actually a machine that kills them. Thats why P&N is called "Politics and News" and not "Douchebag City". If we called it Douchebag City though, these guys would falsely think "Hey, I'm not a douchebag! I don't belong in there!" so instead we call it P&N. So the problem isn't destroyed, but its safely contained.

I haven't read the thread, but I'm not sure why people would bash Bush simply because Osama asked for a truce and said they're planning more attacks. We know they're planning more attacks, their entire existence is based on that.

I did a quick search for bush in there, not much bush-bashing going on.
