Okay. This is not a hot deal. Just wanna share my experiences dealing with UPS with you guys. It could mean something if you happen to be waiting for important packages for the holiday shipped by UPS.

All right. I really don't wanna use their services any more. However, sometimes we just have no choices because some retailers have their contracted carrier.

Okay. Another bad story by UPS again. I ordered a G2 from 800.com last Friday. The only choice I could have is to ship that package via UPS. Therefore, I went for UPS ground. I scheduled to fly overseas and bring that camera back for my family as a gift. My date to take off is Dec. 15. Therefore, I thought I would have plenty of time waiting for the package. Well, I am wrong. Maybe I should I was wrong already when I let them ship via UPS.

UPS' tracking page kept showing me that shipping was okay and it would be delivered to me on Thur, when it showed the package was in my town already. I stayed home waiting for their delivery on Thur. Well, nobody knocked on my door. I thought that probably they had overloaded packages to send because of the holidays. I checked the tracking page and it said the package was out for delivery. Well, yesterday, I stayed home as well for the UPS delivery. Sorry. Nobody knocked on my door. I then went checking the tracking page again around 6:30PM. Holly-shxt.
It showed me that camera was mis-routed to Montana. I am in Pennsylvain. I have no clues how a package sent to Pennsylvaina can be mis-routed to Montana. The worse is that the page showed me it wouldn't arrive until Dec. 15th.

Because I am going to leave on Dec. 15th, that turns to be a big problem to me. I therefore, called UPS for their help. The answer I got is

Me: Hi, I have a problem regarding to my package which was mis-routed to Montana.. blah blah.... I am going to leave on Dec. 15th. etc..

UPS: Oh. I am sorry for the mistake. It will be delivered to you on Dec. 15th. If noboday is home at the moment, it will be returned.

Me: That doesn't make sense. UPS made the mistake and I think UPS has to be responsible to do something like upgrading that shipment to make it delivered to me in time.

UPS: I am sorry. Since your shipment is to a residential address, there is no guarantee. All you can do is wait for that shipment. We cannot upgrade your shipment and it will be delivered to you by UPS ground as well.

Me: Arhhh.. Okay. What can I say? Thank you anyway.

How cool the answer is. It sounds like that UPS can decide when they would like to deliver to their customers as long as the address is a residential one.

Please be careful about your shipments if they are handled by UPS. Also, any input is welcomed. I get to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

BTW, I had bad experiences with UPS before because they lost my packages ( 2 x 512 Crucial ECC RAM and one Canon EOS 3 body). They left them on the porch because I was not home. Unfortunately, somebody picked them up and enjoyed those free gifts. I spent a lot of time and it tooks me lots of efforts to let UPS pay me back for my loss. It cost about 2 months.

UPS services SUCK.

UPS does suck big time but not for the reason you described. They suck in that they break things and will not own up to it.
YOur complaint of them leaving stuff on the porch. To me , if you chose Ground service, that is what they do. IF you have bad neighbors, use another service or BE HOME!

Could be worse, could be USPS 2-3 day priority mail. Something I ordered was shipped on Monday, here it is Saturday and all it tells me is it was accepted on Monday and is enroute to me.
I figure it'll take longer than 2 - 3 days as it's the holidays but telling more than it's enroute would be nice. Wouldn't mind knowing where in it's trip to me it is.

As for UPS only time I experienced this was when shipping to someone.
I never tried this, but, you could offer to pay for the upgrade to 2nd day, or ask the seller to charge your credit card and upgrade it to 2nd day.

Edit: Another thing to try is to ask them to ship it to where your going...

Humorously enough Fedex is about the only company I've had no real complaints about.

yes, especially if you live in a uni...have them deliver it to your mum&pop's work, or your church, or something, as the dorms are just too leery for me.

Yes.

But my big problem is that they mis-routed my package to Montana. Maybe it is on the back of one buffalo now. :(

Sorry to hear baout your experience. UPS has been great for me. Have had about 20 packages shipped in last 2 months, not one single problem. Got to know the UPS guy, maybe that helps.

Sorry. I posted it here just to remind people who are using UPS to ship their packages for the holidays. I hope they can be careful and get their packages in time.

UPS doesn't suck. They do a decent job for the amount of packages they're delivering. I get a lot of packages delivered to my residential address, and have not really had any problems with them. I think you're just unlucky to have them screw up on your twice. Although when I ship packages, I use Fedex cuz its a lil cheaper, right across the street, and open till 8PM.

PS - Take this over to Brag & Moan.

I fail to see how that picture has anything do with UPS. And the only box I see is the one the male hyena is currently occupying

As an ex-employee of UPS I will just say that I choose any other option available when buying online. If I must use UPS I make sure the package is wayyy overinsured.

I have been there... I have seen how their systems work... I dont use them if possible.

That should speak for itself.

UPS tracking system is funky. It seems that they recycle their tracking numbers immediately so one package that was delivered would show delivered but on the same screen it'll show the tracking information of another package for somebody else. Very confusing.
I also hate their damn laziness, the ups shipping station closes at 5pm for drop-ins unlike Fedex. So you cannot pick up the package on the same day that they leave their notices on your door (the UPS trucks return to the station at 7pm).

Fedex closes at 8pm, so you can drop in on the same day to pick up the package that needs signature. One time, Fexex came in the afternoon but nobobdy was there. Then they came back at 8pm to deliver my package. I'd say go for Fedex anytime.

I didn't put it in my first post because I don't want people to misunderstand that I tried to advertise Fedex/AirBone over UPS.

I have no problems with those two shippers and always felt happy at the packages they delivered to me.

Sad to say, but when I've had trouble with UPS, thankfully very infrequently, their support seems utterly brain dead.

What service is brain dead? they use to have service at one time maybe.. I hate UPS and the USPS has been fast and delivered 100% to me.. OF course Fedex is impossible to beat but they are a little too proud of their service and charge way too much...
I have sent UPS so many nasty letters and they just act like nothing is important to a residential customer...

O yeah look what I found in my email yesterday:::

Dear Mr. Smith,

We have received your email regarding the issues with the expected rebate. We regret that you have experienced this difficulty and
we offer our apologies for the frustrations that you have endured. As you are aware this issue have become wide in range. Due to
may issues with the fulfillment house in charge of the rebates, we are now forced to look elsewhere for the necessary assistance.
We are currently in review of this process, which will have to be re-vamped for the benefit of our consumers.

Due to the issues involved we have issued a check to you from our corporate office. This has been done to avoid any further
situations with the rebate process. While the general time frame for shipment to consumers is within two to three weeks, we can
assure that a check has been issued and will be sent.

Again, we do regret that you have experienced this situation. Please be assured that we share your concerns with this matter. We
appreciate your patience and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Sincerely,

R. Clark French

I've had the misrouting problem, too :Q:disgust: I ordered some stuff from a store in NY to me (CA), the tracking history showed:
NY --> CA --> NJ --> CA. Total time in transit, 19 days. :disgust:

I've had "good luck" with UPS, though; they shipped me somebody's beanie baby along with my package :Q The beanie baby's shipping label belongs to somebody who lives about 500 miles away from me, and none of his address info resembled mine. I was happy, needless to say :Q:eek::p
