Wow, I found out on a personal level why ecost has such a very bad rep.
I ordered some items there, then yesterday got an email saying the main item I wanted was backordered. I immediately called and cancelled the order.
The lady said "your order number is now your cancellation number".
This morning I got a message saying "your order has shipped".
I called & was told the cancel call was not in the system.
OMFG!!!
They said I would have to receive the order, then call to get an RA & ship it back.
First she said I would have to pay for shipping.
I said - but I cancelled the order, I should not have to pay for shipping.
Then she (Ramona) said she would arrange for shipping back, and I would not have to pay. I asked her if that info was being entered into the computer, she said "yes".

They have low prices, but their heads are firmly inserted up a very dark & smelly place.

I know what you mean. I had a run in with an online company a couple of months ago. Hadn't dealt with them in awhile, changed ownership. I had to keep after them, even threaten to report them for fraud before they would ship the order. Finally got it resolved. Should have checked resellerratings first. :|

Best of luck getting it resolved to your satisfaction.

The lady on the phone this morning was nice & said she was putting the info in the computer, but that happened yesterday too. Maybe I will call them back today on my lunch time and ask what my order status is...

I buy nearly everything now(unless I can't find it) from ewiz(coincidence? :p). They're a front for a major supply company, but I can't remember the name. Never from their main page though. Searching through froogle always gives the item a discount(usually to make it the cheapest), or through pricewatch(for free shipping). I usually look through to find the best of both.

I picked up a nice 4u chassis that included free shipping that I'm now reconsidering since there is no way I could populate all those hard drive bays.

dude, don't even receive it. just refuse it. signing for it will just lead to more headaches.

edit- to be more clear. they're offering to pay the shipping back right? well, then they should have no problem calling the shipper and alerting them it will be refused and paying the shipping cost directly to the carrier. why should you have to do anything?

newegg does this, tankguys does that. every reputable etailer will take care of that without making the customer do anything.

heh, on a somewhat related note, look how fast newegg stopped hundreds of monitors being delivered that were shipped under the wrong price. alot of the monitors were "out for delivery" from fedex, some literally down the street from the customer :p
