I can understand if they aren't allowed because they become off topic, but some are just for a free book that happens to be a bible, unless I just missed something, which in that case I retract my previous statements.

What you missed was all the thread crapping and religion bashing that made any "deals" worthless. If you want to discuss religion, it happens all the time in the Off Topic forum. When those discussions get too rude, we lock them there, too.
