OT - 2 networks, one computer

Both solutions sound like they will work. Setting up different profiles lets you do just what he wants to accomplish.
 
Hmm... I never thought of that. So setting up the profiles like that, would it allow for domain or workgroup depending on what profile you choose? I have never thought to play with profiles so please pardon my ignorance.
 
You pick which profile you want to boot to ( before you reach the log on screen), which means you could have two different nics, each enabled/disabled for that profile. This would let you pick nic "a" for your home network profile ( nic "b" would be disabled in device manager), then nic "b" would be enabled ( nic "a" would be disabled) for your work profile network. You could also dictate which services would be active for each profile also.
 
Try setting up the nic for each profile---I haven't had a reason to play yet doing this, but it should work as the nic gets it's ip after the profile gets loaded. Profile "a" gets an assigned dns, profile "b" uses dhcp for it's dns...etc.
