avatar by a land slide.

if i had to pick one of those 2 movies to watch again, it would be Avatar every time.

hurt locker was one really REALLY overrated movie that is full of a buncha BS.

watch that movie with a real marine and they will facepalm pretty much the whole movie. and on top of that it was just fairly boring.

I vote for The Hurt Locker. Thought the movie was great, and deserves it more than both District 9 (one of my favourites) and Avatar (awesome effects, stupid dialogue).

I haven't seen Inglourious Basterds yet. I refused to see The Blind Side just because it seemed like it was going to be too sentimental and I had other things to do. However, I can't really judge that either obviously until I see it.

well Hurt Locker has won 3 Oscars vs. 1 for Avatar so far.

Two were for sound. I think they explained 'Sound Editing' and 'Sound Mixing' last year, but they still feel the same to me.

Kick-ass, Michael Giachino (sp?) won for music. He does Lost too...

I haven't even see Avatar... but I don't understand how the most successful movie of all time doesn't win Best Picture...

What the hell? I thought Tommy-boy was screwing with the audience when he announced the winner. He just spit it out and got it done...

Oh, and yay.

Avatar may have been groundbreaking from an innovation and tech standpoint, but the story and acting were not outstanding.

Hurt Locker was a very good movie, albeit not one I will look back on a remember as well as some others.

Bigelow did well, I just wish her speech was more climactic. I know it is a terribly shocking and overwhelming position to be in, but her speech definitely wasn't one of the ones that will be remembered.

I'm in no way saying I don't support what she said, I 100% do, and I love that she won over Avatar. I guess I was just hoping for James to shout something, her to give him a dirty look and an all out brawl to break out.

I'd rather have bastards or even up win.

Hurt Locker was boring. But I'm not really surprise. The "academy" is not reflective of the general public and often like to push agendas.

I was looking forward to seeing with Bullock winning would she even throw in something about the razzie she got. I mean she was a good enough sport to show up and accept it.

Avatar was great spectacle but an average movie.
Hurt locker was pretty damn good

Inglorious Basterds was much better than either and should have won. Not that I ever thought that would happen.

Disclaimer: the above is obviously just my opinion.

Agreed.

I too was hoping Basterds or some of the other movies would win more. I hate it when one or two movies clear house.

I also thought that Precious blew.

Had no clue so many people hated The Hurt Locker. I enjoyed it and I am not surprised it won. Whatever.

Because many of us that have a basic understanding of the military are horrified how insanely inaccurate the movie was. So bad that it detracted from the whole movie.
