Osama Dead???

CBS news just reported that an Al Queada web site, jihad.net, just posted a notice that Osama Bin Laden died on December 9 during a U.S. bombing raid. Anyone else heard this???

As much as the desire for vengeance makes me want to see him die a public horrible death, it is far better that he just die alone in a hole from a bad kidney.

He is not someone we want to make a martyr.

I read an article this past weekend where the BBC also believes he is deceased. It seems they did an interview and the al Quada generals kept referring to OBL in the past tense. The reprter caught this immeadiately apparently but did not divuldge it to them to see how many and how often they would do this......apparently many of them referred to him in the past tense and very often...............

I think it's more than likely that he is dead, since presumably if he were alive we would have continued to see videos of him, courtest of al Jazeera, taunting the US.

He's one of those people to whom dying an unknown, unimportant death is the worst death one could die. I sincerely think bin Laden believed he was a hero of some sort, and nothing would have made him happier than a martyr's death.

I agree. I'm sure they'd have been airing tapes of him (with confirmed dates) constantly just to rub our noses in it. All these vids and audio and claims that he is "alive and well and planning further attacks at a time which is not far away" are starting to sound pathetic.

But....here is a question. Lets say he is dead. If some troop found the body and it was positively identified as him....what would the powers that be do with it? Would there be a discussion on outcomes of revealing it or not....or.... would his head just be held high for all to see?

As much of a prize as it would be, I think the management would do with the corpse what the Soviets did with Hitler and Eva's bodies. Stash it in the National Security Archives. Tough call I guess. Create a martyr or reveal the prize.

I suspect he has been gone for a while, unless he is trying really hard to make people think he is dead for some reason. December 9th could be a reasonable date. If you look at what he did after Sept. 11th making statements and videos, they have been non-existance for many months, and that new video claiming to be him doesn't show his face of course. If he is not really dead, why all the hush, it doesn't seem like how he has acted before. Could he possibly be trying to go into hiding if he is not really dead. If everyone thinks your dead, you can get away with a lot more stuff.

I've thought him to be dead since early in the year for most of the reasons already posted. And I hope the question of his death remains open and unconfirmed officially. I don't want to see him made a martyr as an official announcement of his death would surely do. I'd much prefer extended uncertainty followed by a fading into obscurity.
