Hello all...

I am getting ready to put together a system and am down to where I should get my OS. Looks like the best system for my puter would be windows xp sp2. I have look at various vendors, mainly newegg, monarch (not much there and ZZF. It is usually priced around $200. Does anyone know of any place where you can purchase this OS but with it not as high as I am seeing it on these websites.

any and all replies would be appreciated...

thanks

If you're affiliated with a school, you could get the academic price...
Otherwise, get the upgrade version, half as much and you have to have some old windows 98 or 95 CD lying around somewhere...?

Check with the head of your department; they usually know how to go about getting the software. Our school is part of the MS Academic Alliance; we're all emailed a password to download just about any of their OSes / Development tools (I don't know how I'm going to survive once I graduate). If that's not available, the campus bookstore usually has acadmic versions of their software.

Go to your college bookstore and you can get academic pricing. If you're not a college student, then that wont work (unless you're college faculty or something)

I can get it from work for like $20 because of a license agreement my emplyer has with Microsoft.
