os x trim - any solutions?

asking the collective...

Do we have any solutions to trim? Maybe a 3rd party app? I am itching to work with a ssd ()🙂

Thanks.

OSX has no TRIM support yet, however there is Garbage Collection. While the computer is idle the drive will basically do what TRIM does. This is only found on some SSD controllers (Indilinx).

OCZ Vertex/Agility both support Garbage Collection, AFAIK.

ok thank you. Good info. So what i need is a drive that supports "garbage collection" Do they show this in the specs of the drive?

Some do, some don't, you'll need to verify that the MFG has supported it (as well as they support the OS), some reviews will hint at it, also a good identifier is the actual controller will have it in the specs. OCZ Forums are great at giving guides/etc. You might check other brands' forums if there is one.

Its kind of a gray area with SSD's on OS X right now.

Yeah, buy an SSD with a Sandforce controller in it for auto-garbage collection 😀

I love my OWC!!
