Oh it's true alright. There are many reports of OS x86 running on a PC. According to slashdot, it's "extremely easy." hehe, I am going to try this out soon. Even though I own a Mac with OS X, I still think it would be fun to experiment with. :)

so has it been attempted with tiger, and here is something that worries me isn't this a violation off apple ' s copyright? testers are downloading a copy of OS x one way or the other, right?

The OS x86 version of OS X is Tiger. And yes, it does violate Apple's copyright, as I believe the OS x86 version of Tiger was meant for only the ADC developer subscribers. It was leaked, and now you can find it all over the net. And many people are just downloading it. But lots of people don't care about copyright, as they pirate all kinds of software. I always buy my software, but this is something I really want to toy with.

It would be really cool if Apple released OS X to the general public. Hell I wouldn't mind even if it came with absolutely no support from Apple and was just available either for sale or download as is. But that will never happen so I guess I'll stick with Windows & Linux.

why do you find that weired and too far from happening? Did you ever think Apple would ever switch to Intel orocessors and abandon the RISC processors they have debating for since ever.

If I were Steve Jobless I would think smart and release something similar to an Apple OS X testing beta version to the entire PC market , in the form of a free download and free Cd s being distributed everywhere , that my friend would be the smart strategie to follow before apple makes it's offical and long awaited presence in the PC market and start selling on the shelves next to that windows Vista crappy box.
that way you get immediate popularity and people will feel good about buying apple because if you have been running the same OS (winblows) on the same hardware (x86) you would love the idea of trying something different. (lets say you never heared of Linux), I would release OS X Live Cds and Installabale Cd's
Man if apple does what I am saying especially the part about the Beta and releases Tiger for PC for free oh boy Bill Gates will bash his head against a 22" CRT :laugh:

Yeah that would be nice. I have to admit I'm mighty tempted to go find a site to download it from and give it a whirl. But I just can't justify not paying for software under any circumstances. I really do hope it happens because if they give me the opportunity to play with it on a regular basis I may even decide to buy a Mac.
