OS X FTP Rant

Why doesn't Finder have the ability to upload to a FTP server? I mean seriously. You go through all the trouble of building an FTP reader into Finder so that I can mount it on the desktop like a pretty Apple or SMB share, and then you don't give me the ability to upload anything witout using the cli or a 3rd party program? I mean, even Safari, IE and Opera for OS X don't even support uploading to a FTP server.

What gives? Was this something that was rushed for OS X's initial release, and then forgotten about? Someone want to clue me in to some possible reason Apple would do this?

I may be wrong but I think ftp functionality is new to OS X? I guess it's like CD burning. Basic functionality in the OS, but third party software is more comfortable.

You can get FTP clients here. I use Fetch, but it's shareware.

Apple deliberately stopped people from uploading the FTP directories for some strange reason, which I can't remember. You can get third-party software for FTP (as chcarnage said), or you can just use the UNIX ftp command from Terminal.app (which is what I do).

IE 5.2 is crap, and never had FTP capabilities afaik, because it wasn't used like in Windows Explorer, where it actually renders the folder views.
