OS X bug: identical names on computers cause corrupt symbolic link error

I just did the following;

1) Installed osx.5 on a powerbook.

2) Transfered my information from my desktop (powermac)

3) Unplugged my external disk from the pm and plugged it in to the powerbook.

Now the disk will not mount. When inspecting it in disk utility, it is reported to have an 'Invalid sibling link'.

I take it that this is because transferring information from one computer to another means they both have the same name, and this does something nasty to the indexing on the disk. I have tried repair in disk utility with no success. I have also tried to repair from a (mac) computer with another name, but no.

What to do?

I'm a little confused...

The info on the external disk is a clone of the PowerMac, which you plugged into the PowerBook?

No. The external disk is just a bunch of files, movies, music etc.

After installing osx on a powerbook I selected the 'transfer information' from another mac and plugged it to a powermac. Because of this, the powerbook received the same name as the powermac. Apparently this was to much for the poor FW disk, which now wont talk to anyone...
