OS X and Active Directory

There are a few people that I work with that use Mac Book Pros at work, but they use them as stand alone machines. I know it is possible to have them authenticate to our Server 2K3 AD, but I was wondering if the GPO's would override any local policies on the Mac Books as with MS OSes?

GPO's adjust windows registry entries. OSX doesn't have a registry, so I would say there would be no effect.
