OS won't boot after pluging in Maxtor 80GB to PCI ATA-133 card

Just got the new Maxtor 80GB hard drive with free ATA-133 PCI card. The drive is set to master. I have another WD 40GB set at master that is connected to the MB. My OS booting HD is my Seagate 15,000RPM HD 18.4 GBs. When I connect the cable from the PCI 133 card to the Maxtor 80GB, the OS won't boot. It hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data". BUT when I remove the cable from the PCI card/HD, the OS boots and everything works. What's the problem? All the drivers for the PCI card are properly installed.

Zclyh3,
Since your machine sees the ATA-133 PCI card as a SCSI device, you probably have some kind of conflict. I'm not sure what the solution is, but this is probably your problem

dont all mobos see pci ide contollers as scsi controllers? anyway, this is kind of a shot in the dark but you may want to try moving the card to another slot if you havent already.

I have this same hard drive and am having problems with the ATA-133 PCI card. The bios seems to recognize the hard drive fine but the OS won't boot up. I get a windows exception error with a message like I should run my virus scan. If I disconnect the hard drive from the PCI card and connect to the motherboard directly, everything works fine. Anyone figure out the solution to this problem? Btw, I'm running windows XP. Thanks!
