OS will only boot in boot manager?

Hey guys, just did a fresh install of my windows 8 and for some reason it will only load the operating system up with the boot priorities set to Windows boot manager above my SSD. if I set the SSD for primary boot It won't load up. also when trying to run os setup I am not able to open through USB only uefi. I don't have any other drives on my system other than the ssd so I am confused to why my boot priorities would be like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So did the SSD have 8 on it previously?

Did anything strange happen during the initial setup?

What motherboard do you have?

Yes, I was running windows 8 before this and everything was in order but upon reinstall boot manager became my default and the only option that would load up windows. only thing I can think off that seemed a little different during reinstall was that the usb would not load os when I tried to boot into the usb stick but only through the uefi usb stick, I don't know if since I ran the os setup through the uefi version of the thumb drive instead of the usb version I am getting a weird path or what. I have an asrock x79 extreme6/gb

You might try burning 8 to a DVD and seeing what happens.

If you want to try USB again, I would recommend you use the USB ports on the back of the board, and not the ports accessible by the Asmedia connectors.
