OS on new system?

Have XP Home on old pc, may keep for kids computer. Need windows for games and other programs, beside cost is there any reason not to do Pro?

Pretty basic question I know, appreciate any thoughts anyone has.

Security updates for XP Home end at the end of this year, so that's another reason to go Pro.

Umm, like to back that claim up? It'd be pretty silly to discontinue support of one os immediately after the first release of the next.
