Right now, I'm not too happy with Win98SE on my Libretto 70 (24MB RAM). The RAM usage is just too high, no matter what I do with it. I've stripped it down quite a bit with 98lite and changed back to the win95 explorer. Still, over 75% of the system resources are consumed just by Windows.

Anyone have any suggestions for alternative OSes? Linux is basically out because X is bloated, and FB window managers aren't here yet. At least, not in a form that's usable to me.

I was looking at BeOS. Used it a long time ago, was super fast... Any other suggestions? Machine is a P120MMX, 24MB RAM, 2GB HD. 640x480 LCD, CT65550 graphics chip, OPL-SAX audio.

Luckily, the BIOS takes care of all the APM duties considering it's age. Even handles suspend. :)

GEOS and/or New Deal Office would probably work quite nicely on the Libretto. However, the newdealinc.com web site appears to be unavailable at the moment -- so good like finding the software...
