gold = allows for 68 or 128bit WEP encryption
silver = allows for 64bit WEP encryption

Basically, its the same card except for firmware. There is actually a way to upgrade the silver to a gold but it requires a mac with an airport port.

I believe Orinoco Gold has 128-bit WEP key and Orinoco Silver has 64-bit WEP keys. Orinoco (used to be called Lucent) are known to have the best range for 802.11b cards.

Actually, I believe the Cisco Aironet 350 cards tend to have the best range... Of course with Cisco, a lot of of what you pay for is also the name. :( Their client side util could be better tho IMO.

Best bang for your buck of course is still Proxim's Orinoco hardware. :)

This is a warm deal. Shipping starts at 7.95 across two states, and WTF is up with the HANDLING FEE? I hate companies that quote low prices and charge extra fees on the backend. I won't buy from them just for this reason, fsck it! :(
