I can't load the original theme for Windows XP. Somebody help. I get an error that says, "unspecified error cannot load windows xp thme
D:\windows\resources\themes\luna.theme"
What happened was that I was on my computer locked up, I had the original windows xp theme at the time, and I rebooted and long behold I was in windows classic thme mode. I went to properties and tried to change to the windows xp theme but it gave me the error above. I would like to fix this problem without reinstalling windows xp. I tried replacing the theme with a theme from somone else, but I still get that error.

Please help,

justinlm,

The first thing you might try is to go into the Control Panel, select "Administrative Tools", then select "Services", and scroll down until you see "Themes" and make sure it is started and set to Automatic. If it isn't, right click on "Themes", select "Properties", then change "Startup type" to Automatic and click "Start" under Service status. If those are set correctly, I would suggest trying a System Restore to a point before the lockup happened. If those don't help you, I'm stumped. Hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem! The interface dumped to a grey Classic look and the Themes service keeps failing. I tried to System Restore to a checkpoint from yesterday, but it worked for a bit then tanked again. I have Luna title bars and a grey Classic Toolbar. The Start Menu is Luna, but some on the windows have classic frames. WTF?!?
