Well I have Fable The Lost Chapters on Steam, and decided to put the R9 390 to at least a bit of use whilst playing this game... MSAA adds some blur in comparison to SSAA, plus with SSAA it up-scales everything in the same 1080p frame by 8x.

The result is really nice for it's age in my opinion!

These images have some compression as they were straight from Steam images.

SSAA makes a HUGE difference to older games. This is exactly why there is no such thing as "overkill" when it comes to GPUs. The GTX 580 could run Mafia 2 at 60fps@1920x1080. Does that mean any better GPU would be "overkill" for a 1920x1080 60Hz monitor? Absolutely not. A GTX 980, for example, will allow you to play at the same res and framerate, but with 4x SGSSAA, which totally transforms Mafia 2.

I just upgraded from the 7950 to the R9 290, and am thinking STILL of getting Fury, just to unlock 4K sampling lol. I'll wait for Arctic Islands though in hopes that they add more sampling options. But really, I liked 4x-6x IR a LOT on Dolphin Emulator. I thought it was worth a jump from 4x to 6x even. I really don't understand why more people aren't excited about VSR/DSR when it improves IQ the way it does.

Indeed. It's amazing what some high res texture mods can do as well, which puts the additional VRAM in newer cards to work.

Doing the same thing on my GTX 960, rendering Fable at 4k with DSR on my 720P TV. FTW

Needs high res texture mods though. Hopefully, 2 GB will be enough.

Not sure if AMD's drivers allow you to do so. But if they support it, try to enable SSAO. SSAO can make the shadows of older games look a lot better.
