Original Unreal Tournament runs VERY choppy

I have a A64 3200+, 1GB RAM, 6600GT. Anyways, I decided to install the original Unreal Tournament on my machine a little while ago just for kicks.. and it ran ridiculously choppy. I tried D3D and software rendering, both had the same problem. So then I installed it on my old machine (Cel 1.2, 512MB RAM, 8500LE), and it ran great.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

The D3D renderer was vastly improved starting with the v420 patch. Grab the latest (436) and your D3D performance should improve.

And yes, the Unreal engine was originally designed for Glide. But the market forced them to refine their engine to use D3D.

Not sure what the state of the OGL renderer is though.

It worked, thanks! I guess I thought since it worked fine on my old Celeron 1.2 and Radeon 8500LE it should work the same on my new A64 3200 and 6600GT. I wonder why it's smooth on the Celeron and was choppy on the A64??

Oh well, thanks again!
