Original Scythe Ninja on Q9300?

I am going to be upgrading soon to a Q9300 and was wondering if I could use the Scythe Ninja that I am using with my Opteron 165 currently? Will it mount correctly?

You would have to get an updated mounting kit but I would see no reason why not. I run the Ninja B on mine.

Where can I get the updated mounting kit? I checked Newegg but didn't see anything.

Check to see if yours came with an LGA 775 mounting kit. I can't quite remember what my (I think) original Ninja came with, but IIRC it was a socket 478, and a plastic adaptor for AMD chips. If that's how yours is, then you need a socket 478 adaptor for LGA 775.

So I removed my Ninja from the Opteron and the mounting bracket on it is made of metal. I can't find any other parts to it, just the bracket for the heatsink and the fan that attaches to it. Here are some photos of it.

Uh, that's not a Ninja. Looks more like an ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro. Those did not come with any other mounting mechanisms, and I don't recall seeing any adaptors to make them fit on socket LGA 775 (for your Q9300).

You will need a new HSF.

ROFL you are right. For some reason I thought I got a Ninja. That kind of sucks then.
