original notebook cdrw was broke

using HP z1250 notebook
got new Toshiba combo drive 24x

trying to boot from cd rom and reinstall windows
shows no bootable cd

the combo drive itself works fine
heard that is the setting problem
pls advise

Is it set to boot from CD in the BIOS? Otherwise it would go straight past the CD and would appear to work like it is now.

yes have changed to boot from CD ROM
still doens't work only when i try to install windows it show no bootable cd
when i use the combo drive to do other things like to burn cds / write / read
no problem at all
